FYROM man arrested for pulling up bollards marking Greece-FYROM border

A 36-year-old citizen of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) – living in a village near Bitola in the southwestern part of the country – has been arrested for pulling up a line of bollards marking the border between Greece and FYROM in Florina, FYROM police announced on Thursday.

Based on a decision by a FYROM public prosecutor, he is to face felony charges.

The announcement said the 36-year-old confessed to causing extensive damage to the bollards under police interrogation. According to police, the incident occurred on November 23 between 14:00 in the afternoon and 20:00 at night.

An investigation into the incident, in which 105 border bollards were removed from their foundations and left lying on their side, was initiated by security police in Florina, northern Greece on Sunday.
