The metro system being built in Thessaloniki was "living proof of the goal of equitable growth" and also proof that Thessaloniki "now has the infrastructure to be the Balkan centre that it deserves," Infrastructure and Transport Minister Christos Spirtzis said on Saturday, at the opening of the system's first completed metro station to the public.
