Matthew Nimetz puts an end to Mitsotakis’ ‘fairytale’, Maximos mansion says

The warnings made by Matthew Nimetz, the UN Secretary General’s personal envoy for the FYROM name dispute, regarding the possible repercussions of a failure to implement the Prespes Agreement, show that ideas of renegotiating the deal, such as those recently put forward by main opposition New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis, are little more than a “fairytale”, the prime minister’s office said in an announcement on Wednesday.

“We call on [ND leader Kyriakos] Mitsotakis to read the statement of the UN envoy on FYROM name issue, Matthew Nimetz, which essentially puts an end to Mr. Mitsotakis’ fairytale about a supposed renegotiation, since he underlines that a new agreement would take years and sounded the alarm bell, warning that the erga omnes – something that a Greek government achieved for the first time through the Prespes Agreement – will also be on the negotiation table, ” Maximos mansion announcement said.
