Prespes Agreement will pass in parliament, says Pitsiorlas

Alternate Economy and Growth Minister Stergios Pitsiorlas expressed his certainty that the Prespes Agreement will pass in the Greek parliament “with smooth parliamentary procedures and in the midst of a public debate,” in statements on Friday during his visit to the Greek Sugar Industry offices in Thessaloniki.

He said that the arguments for the ratification of the agreement by the Greek parliament are very strong and that’s why, as he claimed, New Democracy (ND) refuses to accept the proposal for a public debate between Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and ND leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

“We believe that, according to the MPs and the parties’ positions, that the Prespes Agreement will pass in parliament. We believe that a majority [in favour] exists”, he said.
