Great majority of Europarliament supports Athens-Skopje agreement, says Dimitris Papadimoulis

The great majority of the European Parliament supports the Greece-FYROM agreement on the name issue, Europarliament Vice President and head of SYRIZA group Dimitris Papadimoulis told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency radio “Praktoreio” on Wednesday.

“The great majority of the European Parliament supports the agreement because it implements something repetitively reflected for years in a series of widely approved Europarliament resolutions that requested of the Athens and Skopje governments to find a mutually accepted solution to this dispute,” stated Papadimoulis.

“Leaders from all over the world across the political spectrum, almost the entirety of the global media and the UN, welcome the agreement and praise Prime Ministers Alexis Tsipras and Zoran Zaev for their realism and boldness and underline that it is a historic agreement setting a nearly-30-year issue on the path to its resolution,” said Papadimoulis.
