Celestyal Cruises prolongs tourism season in Greece

In an attempt to break the traditional barriers of summer tourism season in Greece, Celestyal Cruises, made a daring move last week. The cruise operator announced last week the initiation of a new cruise schedule, beginning some weeks earlier than the 2018 summer season.

Specifically, the company’s renowned three and four-night Aegean Sea cruises begin on 15th March – two weeks earlier than the 2018 equivalent date. The duration of the new cruise schedule is expected to be prolonged for two weeks later than last year.

Similarly, seven-day cruises also got a notable upgrade with first voyages beginning on 12 April and ending on 2 January 2020. This signals a seasonal extension of the schedule at least eight weeks in comparison to previous years.

Celestyal Cruises CEO Chris Theophilides argued in a recent statement:

‘The main goal of the company’s strategic plan is to support Greek enterprises and contribute to the Greek economy. We are delighted to see our efforts for the extension of the tourism season bearing fruits, since demand for cruises before and after the summer months has been increasing. This gives us an incentive to dynamically continue our efforts.’

Fleet Modernisations

As part of the corporate restructuring process, Celestyal Cruises also modernised its cruise fleet. Extensive renovations took place in its flagships Crystal and Olympia, intending to upgrade both infrastructural provisions and customer experience whilst onboard. Indicative examples entail the refurbishment of 43 balcony suites and 16 other cabins on Crystal vessel, which were also re-decorated with new fabrics, colours and carpets. Similar modernisations also took place on the Olympia vessel. The renovation process of both vessels took place in Greece’s naval shipyards. As the company’s statement argues, ‘This has been one more investment carried out in Greece’s specialised shipbuilding facilities, and actively proves Celestyal Cruises’ support to the Greek economy.’

Additional improvements were recorded in the area of customer service. Celestyal Cruises provides a personal assistant service to the guests of First Class suites onboard the Crystal and Olympia vessels. Personalised services is offered without any additional charges and intends to provide tailor-made services to accommodate customer needs during boarding, voyage and disembarkation stages.
