ND’s Kikilias: ‘Ironic’ that PM can easily visit Skopje but not Macedonia

In a comment on Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras‘ visit to Greece’s northern neighbour on Tuesday, main opposition New Democracy (ND) shadow defence minister Vassilis Kikilias said it was ironic that the prime minister can’t go to Macedonia but can easily go to Skopje.

Kikilias wondered whether the Prespes Agreement was drawn up for the 70 businessmen that are accompanying Tsipras to Skopje and said the image that the prime minister has for his agreement was wrong. This was proved every day, not only in northern Greece but throughout the country, he added.

“We were always in favour of Skopje’s accession to NATO and the EU but with an honest and correct agreement,” Kikilias noted. He also pointed out that ND leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis has clearly stated that ND will defend Greece’s interests and “if Skopje does not agree on essential issues nobody expects ND to open its arms.”
