Greek President receives 2004 European football championship team

Greeks and the Greek nation must learn to leverage the virtues of their faults besides their virtues, President of the Republic Prokopios Pavlopoulos said on Wednesday, at a reception in honour of the national team which won the European football championship in 2004.

“When did we Greeks achieve a lot? When we leveraged even the virtues of our weaknesses,” Pavlopoulos said. “And when were we not equal to the occasion? When we became trapped in the faults of our virtues,” he added, thanking the team for the opportunity to remember the moment of glory for Greece and to convey the importance of its example as an inspiration for all, including himself.
