Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura is a nominee for three international prizes at the PAWA International Awards, which are considered the “Oscars” of tourism.
The PATWA International Awards are handed out every year at Berlin’s top tourist exhibition, ITB, which is currently underway to March 10. The awards are the most coveted and sought-after awards of the travel trade, and this is the 20th consecutive year they are being held.
It is the first time Greece has been nominated for each of the three awards, which include Best Leisure Destination, and the awards of best tourism minister for Kountoura. In addition, Kountoura is also a nominee of the “Woman of Excellence” Award of the Institute of South Asian Women (ISAW), which has been being held since 2012 and honours women ministers, leaders and strong social action worldwide on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
On Thursday the minister will also receive the International Peace Institute’s award “Celebrating Her” through Tourism IIPTI at the 4th World Peace Prize event for strong women in tourism. Moreover, Kountoura was awarded the “Tourism Strategy & Resilience” award for Greece’s successful strategy in developing tourism.
