Vassilis Kikilias: Tsipras ‘begging’ Theodorakis and Kammenos for support to stay afloat

New Democracy (ND) shadow defence minister Vasilis Kikilias, speaking on Monday, said that Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is looking for support from two other parties, Potami and the Independent Greeks, in order to collect the necessary majority to pass the Prespes Agreement in parliament.

He noted that the Prespes Agreeement grants Greece’s northern neighbours a Macedonian identity and language, which allowed FYROM Prime Minister Zoran Zaev to speak of “Macedonia of the Aegean and a minority in Greece,” while adding that Tsipras believed that he would be able to pass the agreement against the will of the Greek people.

Referring to the social dividend, Kikilias said that his party will vote in favour and accused the government of boasting of outperformance over a primary surlplus resulting from overtaxation.

“The government decided to give something ahead of the general elections for obvious reasons. Nobody in history has been saved politically by fooling the people at the last moment,” he said.
