ND leader Mitsotakis visits fire-stricken Mati

New Democracy (ND) leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis said that those responsible for the destruction at Mati and the loss of lives will be called to face the consequences, during a visit to the fire-stricken area on Thursday.

In his second visit to the area since the fire, the main opposition leader spoke with residents and representatives of the local government, who briefed him on the current situation and the restoration of damage.

Mitsotakis said he would personally commit to doing the best he could to help the area recover the soonest possible and bring those responsible for the tragedy before justice. “I have great faith in justice,” he said, adding that “in a democracy there is responsibility and accountability; some people are responsible for the deaths of 96 people and for hundreds, if not thousands, more losing their property.”
