‘No change’ to European Commission’s stance on FYROM’s name, sources say

The is no “change in the European Commission‘s standing position” regarding the official, internationally-recognized name of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), European Commission sources said on Thursday.

Referring to the alleged use of the term “Macedonia” by European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker in an interview with the German broadcaster Deutsche Welle, European sources said that Juncker’s statements had been ‘lost in translation’ and intimated that he will continue to use the official name FYROM in the future, as he has always done in the past.
