Approval of selling arms to Saudi Arabia revoked by Parliamentary Committee

After a number of documents voted in the European Parliament (EP) in favour of eliminating any arms sales and provision of related equiptment towards Saudi Arabia, there is a great international pressure on their immediate implementation, as not doing so, could lead to a humanitarian disaster, Nikos Fylis said.

Fylis mentioned that the Parliamentary Committee has revoked its approval on the sale of arms to Saudi Arabia, but the Government Council for Foreign Affairs and Defense (KYSEA) shall repeal its approval, as well, to stop the arms sale.

We note that the main opposition party New Democracy (ND) abstained, as it considered the draft as a “pretext”.
