Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs stresses the need for protection of Christian communities
Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, during his speech on the 2nd International Conference on “Religious and Cultural Pluralism and Peaceful Co-existence in the Middle East”, focused on the need for the protection of Christian Communities all around the world, and especially in the Middle East, where the Christian minorities are under constant threat.
Mr. Szijjártó embraced the Greek initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and his counterpart Mr. Nikos Kotzias, while he made a plea towards the international community and the European Union to take a stronger role to protect the Christian communities. Furthermore, he mentioned that the Christian communities shall be supported not only verbally and through declarations, but that they need financial support and they should not flee from their homelands.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Mr. Szijjártó, had a bilateral meeting with Mr. Kotzias on the sidelines of the Conference.
