We will have good results in the economic field as the competition will raise the price, Energy and Environment Minister Giorgos Stathakis said on Wednesday regarding the selling of 66 percent of Hellenic Gas Transmission System Operator (DESFA).
Stathakis was speaking to SKAI TV.
He said that the hurdles set by EU on the previous tender which was awarded to the Azeri company SOCAR are eliminated with the new tender. A solution was adopted, as he said, that allows a bidder operating in the EU or have a European partner in the venture provided that the company comes from a third country.
Referring to the government’s policy and the taxation, Stathakis said that “every tax measure has strong elements of tax justice.”
He, however, left open the possibility of tax reduction when the economy recovers. In parallel, he underlined that the country achieved a remarkable fiscal consolidation with zero recession in 2015, marginal improvement in 2016 and substantial improvement in 2017.
