According to a survey conducted, 5.3 million people visited the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (the SNFCC, or ΚΠΣΙΝ in Greek) in 2018.
Among the visitors were one out of every two Athenians, a figure which clearly shows the impressive success that the spectacular new cultural center has seen with the residents of the Greek capital.
When asked about what they liked most about the center, people mentioned the variety of cultural and environmental activities taking place there, along with its buildings, its park and the beautiful promenade.
An astonishing 99 percent of respondents gave positive remarks regarding the cleanliness of the premises. Public spaces in Athens in general do not enjoy such levels of protection from litter, graffiti and vandalism, something which makes the SNFCC a paradigm for the city and the entire country.
The demographics of the 5.3 million visitors showed that for the most part, it is a highly-educated cohort of people between 18 and 44 years of age who visit the premises, along with their families.
The majority of the Athenians who visited the SNFCC in 2018 were from the southern suburbs, since the Center itself is located there.
The SNFCC is a massive complex along Faliro Bay in Athens. The stunning complex includes the new National Library of Greece and the new Greek National Opera, along with the 210,000-square-meter ”Stavros Niarchos Park.”
The €600-million ($682-million) project was completed in 2016 and was donated to the Greek state by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
