Number of visitors in museums down 2.9 pct in December

Museums experienced a 2.9 pct decrease in the number of visitors in December 2017 compared with the corresponding month of 2016 and an 8.2 pct decrease in the number of free admission visitors as well as a 4.6 pct increase in their receipts, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority.

In December 2017 compared with the corresponding month of 2016, the number of visitors at archaeological sites recorded an increase of 17.0 pct, while a decrease of 2.7 pct was observed in the number of free admission visitors and a 27.4% increase in the corresponding receipts.

During the twelve-month period from January to December 2017, an increase of 15.0 pct was observed in the number of visitors of museums, while an increase of 11.9 pct was recorded in the number of free admission visitors and a 19.9 pct increase in the relevant receipts, in comparison with the corresponding period of 2016.

As regards archaeological sites, during the twelve-month period from January to December 2017, an increase of 18.3 pct was recorded in the number of visitors, while a 19.9 pct increase was observed in the number of free admission visitors and an 18.5 pct increase in the relevant receipts, in comparison with the corresponding period of 2016.
