Museum of Delphi staffing issue being addressed by ministry of Culture

An upcoming shortage of staffing at the Museum of Delphi during the winter months is being addressed by the Greek Ministry of Culture, according to sources speaking to Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA).

Seasonal staff are working at the museum on short-term contracts that end in November, leading to the possibility that the museum at this major archaeological site will be forced to remain shut one day a week during the winter.

The issue was raised by Sterea Ellada governor Kostas Bakoyannis, in a letter to Culture Minister Lydia Koniordou. “The negative repercussions for the local economy and for national tourism” would be significant, he pointed out, and called for the ministry’s support of the region’s efforts to promote growth and tourism in the region.
