Asylum Service employees call 48-hour strike for unpaid wages

Contract staff employees working at Greece’s Asylum Service announced a 48-hour strike for April 5-6 on Monday, asking for their unpaid wages.

Their newly-founded union said in a statement the 60 employees have not been paid for four months “despite the repeated pledges of the Migration Policy ministry to tackle the issue by the end of February 2017” and the promises for “normalisation of the payment of about 350 contract staff in Greece.”

Civil servants’ union federation ADEDY called on all contract staff employees in the Asylum Service to participate in the strike.
