Polytechnic School opens gates for 17 November celebration

The Athens Polytechnic School opened its gates to the public on Thursday morning, in preparation for the celebrations commemorating the November 17, 1973 student uprising against the Junta.

For the first time, however, the public will not be able to access the School’s main building (Averof) as it is under occupation by anti-establishment groups.

The 17 November celebration committee, in a statement issued on Thursday, called on the groups occupying the Averof building to depart so that people can circulate freely inside the historic Polytechnic School, where the 1973 events took place.
