Drones and more than 5,000 police officers deployed for November 17

Greek police are on the alert ahead of the celebrations commemorating the November 17, 1973 student uprising against the Junta, which will culminate in a march towards the American embassy on Saturday.

More than 5,000 police officers are going to be placed throughout the city centre, guarding especially police stations and government buildings. In the area of Exarchia, where clashes between police and anti-establishment groups occur often, undercover police officers will be monitoring the movements of people on the street and pedestrian traffic around a number of occupied buildings in the area.

Drones and a Greek Police helicopter will be flying over the centre of Athens.
