Nearly 800 asylum-seekers will leave Aegean islands on Friday

Approximately 800 asylum seekers or individuals belonging to vunlerable groups will depart from the eastern Aegean islands on Friday, on board a ferry bound for the port of Piraeus. Most of them will be hosted in hotels in different areas of the mainland.

Nearly 140 people will leave from Lesvos, 180 from Chios, 400 from Samos, 60 from Leros and 20 from Kos.

According to the migration policy ministry, another 1,000 refugees that have applied for asylum will leave the islands in the next week.
