Eight Greek universities are on the World Academic Ranking List for 2019, which are assessed by one of the most important university ranking systems, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE). Out of the eight Greek universities, the University of Crete holds the first place, while this year’s list includes the Democritus University of Thrace at 1001+.
The University of Crete maintains the rank 351-400, which also had in 2018, followed by the National Kapodistrian University of Athens, which ranks 501-600 and has climbed from the 5th place to the 2nd. The University of the Aegean is on the 3rd place, followed by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
The Aegean University rector, Chrisi Vigilaki, welcomed the Foundation’s distinction by saying that its rising course rewards and encourages the efforts of the academic community to consolidate and continue to highlight the institution as an international center of excellence in research and education and that recognition is a very important chapter in the studies and the future of the students.
