Police catch suspect that escaped detention in Argyroupoli

Police caught early on Saturday one of the three Albanian men accused of theft that had escaped from a police station in Argyroupoli earlier this week.

The man, aged 24, was found by police seeking refuge at a home in Agia Marina. He tried to escape arrest by hiding in a wardrobe in the home in a police operation that took place at 5 am.

Police said efforts are continuing to catch the other two suspects, aged 31 and 28, who escaped. The three have been accused of having committed 72 counts of theft from homes in the northern and southern suburbs of Athens.
