Hellenic Navy exercise ‘Kataigis 2018’ to take place in Aegean

The annual large-scale Hellenic Navy exercise “Kataigis 2018” will begin on Sunday, June 3 and be completed on June 8, according to a presentation held on Thursday.

The exercise will be conducted in the central, northern and northeastern Aegean Sea with the participation of all Navy units in active service.

The main aim of the exercise is to maintain and improve levels of operational training and the combat capability of participants, to promote and maintain a unified spirit of cooperation and display a strong naval presence in the Aegean. It envisages the execution of multiple tasks seeking to maximise cooperation with other branches of the armed forces, as well as to test special plans and the implementation of experimental or innovative tactics.
