Ellinair expects a significant 34 pct increase in its passenger traffic this year, compared with 2017, to around 1,061,029 passengers, Mouzounidis Group‘s executives told reporters on Wednesday.
The executives said that passenger traffic in the first quarter of the year grew 79 pct to 91,813 from 54,422 passengers in the same period last year. Ellinair has scheduled 8,504 flights this year (an increase of 21 pct compared with 2017), with total seats of 1,355,082, up 32 pct. Ellinair said its passenger traffic grew 40 pct in 2017 from 2016.
The airline company included two new aircraft in its fleet totaling 10 aircraft (three Airbus 319, five Airbus 320 and two Boeing 737-300) and announced seven new air routes in Greece and abroad to a total 30 destinations from four bases (Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Corfu and Moscow).
The company is also expanding in the hotel market and currently operates a network of eight hotels around the country with the aim to total 11 by 2019.
