Lawyers request tighter security in courthouses

The Athens and Piraeus Bar Associations called on the government on Thursday to improve safety in courthouses and protect lawyers during a meeting with Alternate Citizen Protection Minister Nikos Toskas.

The union noted the need to take immediate measures to boost security at the Evelpidon court complex, such as activating a second security scanner on the lower gate of the courtrooms which remains inactive, ensuring that only lawyers enter from that door, adding police foot patrols around the complex and placing reinforced iron net on the perimeter.
