Greek student presents FightHoax – countering fake news programme – in the European Parliament

Valentinos Tzekas, a 20-year-old Greek student from the University of Macedonia, is to present the second edition of “FightHoax” in the European Parliament.

The “FightHoax” is a promising algorithm, which aims to detect hoax news published and distributed in the Internet.

“FightHoax” can provide information on the source of the article, such as the number of people working in the company; details of the background of the author of the article, such as other outlets, where the author has published articles. Finally, “FightHoax” can decide if the article is an opinion article, a clickbait article, aims to produce propaganda and includes hate speech.
