More than 2.0 billion euro to be spent on supporting industry, Charitsis says
More than 2.0 billion euros are to be spent to support Greece’s industry, Alternate Economy and Development Minister Alexis Charitsis said at the annual general meeting of Central Greece industrialists. He also announced plans to environmentally clean up production.
“The crisis of recent years was, primarily, a crisis of the country’s productive model. A model that was introverted, of low capacity, which led to deindustrialisation, very high deficits and the loss of thousands of stable and quality jobs. We will either change this model or society and the economy will be sunk in a downward spiral of constant decline. Supporting and improving industry is a prerequisite for the productive remodelling the country needs,” he said.
He said this will be financed through the EU National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF) funds, support for environmentally-sound industry, the creation of industrial and manufacturing parks, the new infrastructure fund and the new developmental law.
