Greek stocks end higher

Greek stocks ended higher in the Athens Stock Exchange, boosted by expectations of a positive outcome in today’s Eurogroup meeting. The general index of the market rose 0.91 pct to end at 772.89 points, with the Large Cap index rising 0.96 pct and the Mid Cap index ending 1.76 pct lower. Turnover was 55.1 million euros in volume of 38 million shares.

Viohalco (5.11 pct) and Lamda (4.40 pct) scored big gains among blue chip stocks, while Coca Cola HBC (0.51 pct) and Motor Oil (0.21 pct) suffered losses. Among market sectors, Banks (2.62 pct) and Financial Services (1.99 pct) scored gains, while Construction (0.75 pct) and Food/Beverage (0.57 pct) suffered losses.

National Bank and Eurobank were the most heavily traded securities of the day. Broadly, advancers led decliners by 58 to 47 with another 134 issues unchanged. Kiriakoulis (25.32 pct), CPI (11.67 pct) and Cenergy (6.74 pct0 were top gainers, while Nireus (18.29 pct), Selonda (17.42 pct) and Elinoil (9.76 pct) were top losers.
