Syntagma metro station opened a few minutes ago, by order of the police. The station had closed at 09:00 on Monday for precautionary reasons due to Israeli President Reuven Rivlin's visit to Athens.
Special traffic restrictions will be in force in various parts of central and greater Athens over the next three days, while Israeli President Reuven Rivlin is in the Greek capital on an official visit.
In a message on social media posted shortly after his arrival in Athens on Monday for a three-day official visit, Israeli President Reuven Rivlin expressed confidence that the visit will strengthen ties between Greece and Israel.
The metro station at Syntagma in central Athens will be closed after 09:00 on Monday morning by order of the police. The precautionary measure was taken due to Israeli President Reuven Rivlin's visit to the Greek capital.
"I am looking forward to the strenghtening of relations between our countries", Israeli president Reuven Rivlin noted in a videotaped message on Thursday, ahead of his visit to Greece next week.
Thessaloniki mayor Yiannis Boutaris announced on Tuesday that Israel's President Reuven Rivlin will visit the city on January 30, to honour the Greek Jews who perished in Nazi concentration camps.
