OSE Museum to move to historic building in Piraeus

The Hellenic Railways’ (OSE) Museum will be moved from its current site on Liossion Street north of Athens to Piraeus, authorities decided on Tuesday.

The OSE Museum in Sepolia – not to be confused with the Isap Museum at the Piraeus terminal station – will be rehoused at the so-called Rotunda, a house on the national register that was built in in 1905.

The decision was reached by the Piraeus region deputy director, the OSE managing director, and other consultants of the raiways board and of the region.

Giorgos Gavrilis, the deputy director, said that the move will “allow the immediate use of the historic buliding” which will be refurbished and “boost the whole area, as it fulfills a long-term demand of Piraeus citizens.”
