Dendias visits eastern Libya

Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias paid a visit to eastern Libya on Wednesday, where he had talks with the speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh.

During the meeting, the two men condemned once again the foreign interventions in the Arab country, while the Greek minister referred to the historical responsibilities that Turkey has undertaken with the transfer of mercenaries and the violation of the arms embargo.

For his part, Mr. Saleh stressed that since the Turkish-Libyan memorandum has not passed by the parliament, it does not reflect the will of the Libyan people.

The future of Greek-Libyan relations was discussed at the meeting, as well as the intention to open a Greek consulate in Benghazi.

According to diplomatic sources, the visit is part of our country’s ongoing efforts to actively contribute to the ceasefire and in finding a political solution in Libya, in line with the decisions of the United Nations Security Council and the Conclusions of Berlin.
