New Democracy Leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited Limnos for 25 March National Holiday

Main opposition New Democracy President Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the Aegean island of Limnos on Monday, in order to watch the school and military parade held on the island for the March 25 national holiday. The holiday marks the anniversary of the 1821 Greek War of Independence against the Ottoman Empire.

“Today we celebrate the start of a courageous revolution, which finally led to the formation of the modern Greek State. Today we pay tribute to those that gave their lives so that we can live free and independent,” Leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis said after the parade in Myrina, Limnos.

In addition to being a day of optimism and pride, however, the opposition leader noted that it was also a day for reflection. “For 10 years now, the country has yet to emerge from a deep, painful crisis. Today Greece needs vision and a direction. Above all, it once again needs to connect with a healthy patriotism, a patriotism that unites, a patriotism that prioritises the concepts of responsibility, truth and, above all, hard work.”

“Here from Limnos, I want to send all Greek men and women, within and outside Greece, a message of optimism and self-confidence. We can do better and we will make it.

Earlier, the main opposition leader met pilots and engineers of the Hellenic Air Force 130 Combat Group and visited a local high school.
