The G and A Mamidakis Foundation declared this week the hosting of the G and A Mamidakis Foundation Art Prize to be given for the year 2019. The award envisages the creation of an artist-in-residence programme.
The prize is a culmination of thirty-year devoted efforts by the foundation to cultivate artistic expression in Greece.
Details of Art Prize Competition
The foundation invites artists from the diaspora, Cyprus and Greece to submit their artistic proposals by 15 April 2019. Upon the registration process, the selected works will feature the foundation’s permanent collections and will be exhibited at an outdoor museum. The museum is located within the premises of the Minos Beach Art Hotel, situated in the city of Agios Nikolaos in the island of Crete.
An artistic committee will assess the submitted proposals to the foundation. The committee comprises of former artists, academics and other professionals of the arts industry. The winner will be announced by the end of April.
The G and A Mamidakis Foundation is a devoted believer in the significant contribution of arts to the cultural development of the Hellenic society. Artistic development also contributes to a positive tourist experience. The President of the Foundation,Gina Mamidakis summed this ideas up, acknowledging: ‘it is our obligation to support art as a means of a society’s cultural growth. That is the ultimate goal of the G and A Mamidakis Foundation Art Prize.’
