Oman Air, the national airline carrier of the Sultanate of Oman arrives in Greece for the summer 2019 season. The new schedule of the airline carrier was announced last week and includes a new daily flight from Muscat International Airport to Athens International Airport. The new flight schedule will accommodate travellers’ needs during the 2019 high summer season, initiating operations from 1st June 2019 – without nonetheless mentioning an end-date. Flight duration is expected to last approximately five hours.
Oman Air has already established its presence since 2016 in the Greek market upon the conclusion of a strategic alliance with Goldair Airline Services. Goldair Airline Services is a subsidiary of the Goldair Group, a Greek conglomerate providing integrated tourism, logistics and transportation services. Goldair Airline Services became the official marketing representative and sales vendor of Oman Air in Greece.
In 2018, Oman Air received two special prizes within the context of World Travel Awards. It was officially recognised as the Middle East’s Leading Airline, both in Business and Economy Class. To attain market leadership, Oman Air has a fleet of 60 aircrafts and provides medium and long-haul services to countless exotic destinations across the Middle East, South-East Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. The company’s current strategy aspires to operate across 60 destinations by 2022 with a fleet of more than 70 jets.
The Muscat-Athens flight will be serviced by the so-called backbones of Oman Air’s fleet in medium-haul travel. These are Boeing 737 family type jets and possess average seating capacity of 162 passengers.
