Of the 3.5 million people that will see their Uniform Real Estate Ownership Tax (ENFIA) reduced by 30 percent, one million belong to the middle class, Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos said on Friday in an a interview.
Tsakalotos said that Greece will meet the 3.5 percent of GDP primary surplus target by 2022 and at the same time it will have sufficient fiscal space to adopt permanent positive measures, such as a reduction of social security contributions for freelancers, a reduction of ENFIA and business tax and the distribution of a housing allowance and ‘social dividend’.
He announced that positive measures amounting to 3.5 billion euros will be implemented by 2022.
Moreover, he noted that an amendment will be tabled in the next two weeks regarding the housing allowance that will come to 450 million euros.
Asked about the government’s promises, he said that the government is trying to build a social state, adding that more things are also being done to boost growth.
