Prosecutor calls in ten suspects over Mandra flooding

A prosecutor has called ten suspects, including Attica Regional Governor Rena Dourou, to testify for the deadly floods that struck Mandra, west of Athens, in 2017.

Along with the Mayor of Mandra Ioannna Kriekouki, and other regional and council officials, the prosecutor is looking into whether any misdemeanors charges were committed by the suspects, including causing damage to property from negligence, homicide via negligence, causing bodily harm and violating building regulations.

The investigation into the floods, that killed 20 people, is expected to wind up after the ten suspects testify. The prosecutor will then decide on whether any suspects should face any criminal or misdemeanor charges, and then pass the file onto to an examining magistrate.
