“The people have suffered enough, now there must be investments in Greece. You are an exceptional race and went through difficult years but if you achieve a significant role in the Mediterranean you will have a great future,” Udo Bullman, the leader of the Socialist and Democrats Group (S&D) in the European Parliament, said in an interview, who is currently in Athens.
In regard to the cooperation of Europe’s progressive parties, he said that “for us, it is clear that the all of the proposals of the social democrats must be updated. This does not just apply to the economy, for a sustainable economy” in a social context “that must give to every citizen an opportunity. Whoever helps us is progressive, whoever bothers us is not.
In response to a question on whether he would work with Syriza, he said “of course, if our positions were line with each other.” Asked on the possibility for a cooperation between Syriza and Pasok or Potami, Bullman said that this must be decided by the Greek people.
