No one missing, four injured at landslide on popular Zakynthos beach

Four people were lightly injured after a landslide over the iconic Navagio beach on Zakynthos island, western Greece, on Thursday. The three are being transferred to the Zakynthos General Hospital.

Earlier reports had said authorities were looking for possible victims of the landslide, when the turbulence from falling rocks overturned three boats off the beach, but according to a newer report, luckily, there are no persons missing.

The Port Authority said the beach has been evacuated and boats with tourists forbidden from approaching until further notice.

According to owners of private boats in the area, there were three boats with passengers in the area during the landslide. “We heard a sound and a small part of the rock fell, then a second one, and finally a third and large piece dropped in the sea, creating turbulence that overturned the boats,” a witness told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency.
