Minister for Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Media Nikos Pappas, in an interview on Tuesday, referred to the draft bill that is being introduced in the Parliament later the same day to provide a television signal in even the remotest areas of the country, noting that access to television is fundamental right of all citizens.
More than 400,000 households will get free access to a television signal, he added. He explained that the State does not have “business plans” but fundamental obligations towards citizens to give them access to television where the privatisation of the network had left them out.
He also said that the US Secretary of Commerce will attend the upcoming TIF, adding that this will be the largest event in Thessaloniki for the last two decades. Pappas underlined that the ministry will participate with a separate pavilion that will include 120 start ups, two robot labs and many impressive technological structures.
