A European Parliament delegation will visit Athens and the island of Lesvos on April 23-24 in order to examine the conditions for unaccompanied refugee children in Greece.
The MEPs’ working visit is taking place under the auspices of the European Parliament Intergroup for children’s rights, according to a Europarliament announcement.
On Tuesday 23 April, the MEPs will hold a series of meetings in Athens with senior Greek officials and representatives of international organisations. Moreover, they will visit the reception facilities in Eleonas and the Frontex office in Piraeus.
On Wednesday, they will go to Lesvos to visit the Moria hotspot and the reception center for migrants and refugees at Kara Tepe.
The delegation will hold meetings with the mayor of Mytilene as well as with officials of international non-governmental organisations involved in the reception of migrants and refugees.
