Hellenic Youth in Actions starts with speech of Deputy Foreign Minister Quick

Deputy Foreign Minister Terens Quick stressed the need to invest in the “new blood” of Greece’s diaspora so that it might have the future it truly deserves, in statements at the two-day “Hellenic Youth in Action” Forum held in Zappion.

Delivering the opening address on Saturday, Quick told the 350 young people from all corners of the world taking part that it was time to “pick up the baton” from their parents and grandparents that formed the first wave of migration from Greece in difficult times while emphasising the role played by the Church in creating Greek communities abroad.

“Your presence here is a great honour. We know that you carry your Greek identity with pride,” Quick said, noting that it was the foreign ministry’s duty to try and make the diaspora united and in contact.
