Energy Min Stathakis: Israel-Cyprus-Greece electricity interconnection will proceed normally

The gas pipeline and the Israel-Cyprus-Greece electricity interconnection will proceed normally, as there is no question of violation of the international rules, Minister of Environment and Energy George Stathakis said on Sunday in an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA).

Stathakis reiterated the assurances that jobs in the Megalopolis and Florina lignite units of PPC, which are in a sale process, will be protected, while stressing that the solution for Amynteo Station will include institutional procedures, it will be open to all interested parties, and it will be fully compatible with the EU framework of rules.

Asked on the recent government reshuffle, Stathakis said that the Prime Minister has managed to “combine in an excellent way the need for experience with the mood for renewal.”

Regarding the exit from the memoranda, he said that the government is called on to conclude the development planning for the post-memorandum period as well as any pending reforms over the next six-month period.
