AHEPA awards scholarships in Canada

The 29th Annual Scholarship Dinner of AHEPA District #26 (British Columbia) took place on Saturday, January 13th, 2018, where scholarships worth $15,000.00 in total were awarded to those BC students who excelled in their studies.

Over 180 people attended the event at the Vancouver Hellenic Community Centre. Among the honorary guests were Raymond Louie; acting Mayor City of Vancouver, and Tassoula Berggren; Honourary Consul of Cyprus.

Nearly one million dollars are offered for scholarships by AHEPA chapters around the globe, with British Columbia awarding the highest amount in Canada, namely ten scholarships of $1000.00 and two scholarships worth $1500.00 each.

The 6-month collective effort of the AHEPA committee in Vancouver every year ensures that eligible students are awarded the scholarships in acknowledgement of their hard work.

Vancouver committee members are John Preovolos, Bernadette Falias, Paul Michael, John Alevras, George Skrivanos, Gus Niketas, and George Vassilas; who is also AHEPA District #26 Governor.

Hellenic students in British Columbia are invited to apply for scholarships. Applications are available at the local Greek Church every August.
