The government has the dual task of both ending the current state of supervision for Greece while also eliminating the problems – such as tax evasion – that brought it about in the first place, Deputy Foreign Minister Yiannis Amanatidis said while speaking to public broadcaster ERT on Monday.
Asked about an upcoming visit by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Amanatidis said: “Erdogan’s visit is a historic moment. A Turkish president is visiting Greece after 60 years. We hope for the development of a positive agenda on bilateral relations, in the economic field, on the migration crisis and in regional cooperation”.
He also stressed that diplomacy and dialogue were the tools for resolving differences between states. “Don’t forget that Greece is an important pillar of stability and safety in the region,” concluded Amanatidis.
