Foreign visitors spent an average of 435 euros in Greece in first half 2017

Foreign visitors spent an average 435 euros, or 67 euros per day, for an average stay of 6.5 nights in Greece in the first half of 2017, the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) said on Friday.

A report released by INSETE said that these figures were up 1.0 pct in revenue, up 1.9 pct per overnight stay and down 0.9 pct per stay compared with 2016. INSETE said the vast majority of foreign visitors in the country was recorded in six regions: Attica (1.986 million), Central Macedonia (1.948 million), South Aegean (1.497 million), Crete (1.367 million), Ionian Islands (597,000), while the rest of the country’s regions (Epirus, Peloponnese, Western Greece, Thessaly, Central Greece, Western Macedonia and Northern Aegean) attracted 1.112 million visitors. The highest average revenue per visit was recorded in Crete (663 euros) and the highest revenue per overnight stay in the Ionian Islands.
