Spinalonga Island and Minoan Palaces proposed for UNESCO’s world heritage sites list

UNESCO Committee Convention’s meeting took place this weekend, in the Basilica of St. Mark Heraklion, Crete.

In total, 35 delegates took part in the international meeting, coming from Africa, Asia, Europe, North and South America, as well.

Maria Vlazakis, General Secretary of the Ministry of Culture chaired the meeting, in which important issues were discussed, including the cultural property’s protection from antiquities’ illegal trade, as well as the inclusion of the Minoan palaces and the Spinalonga Island into Unesco’s monument list.
