Turkey tests long-range missile in Black Sea, according to Defence minister

Turkey tested a long-range “Bora” missile in the Black Sea, the country’s Defence Minister Fikri Isik told broadcaster “A Haber”.

“A new launch of our 280-kilometer range Bora missile has been made in Sinop. It is about to fall onto its target in the Black Sea at this moment. Turkey is now making its own missiles. We have gained great self-confidence to make a better one,” he was quoted as saying.

Turkey’s General Secretariat of the Defence Industry has signed a contract with the Turkish company Roketsan to develop a ground-to-ground long-range missile. The first tests took place in Sinop in May 2012.
