There will be no metro service in Athens on Wednesday 28 November due to a 24-hour strike declared by the workers' union STASY.
The works for the extension of the Thessaloniki metro will begin this year, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Christos Spirtzis said on Thursday in an interview.
Attiko Metro said on Tuesday that it has completed the digging of underground tunnels in Thessaloniki that will be used for the city's metro train system.
There will be no metro services on lines 2 (red line) and 3 (blue line) on Thursday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm in order for the union to hold an extraordinary shareholders meeting.
Metro train engineers will strike from 9:00 p.m. to the end of the day on November 2 over insurance issues, their union said on Tuesday.
